What it is

A feedback grid captures reactions to a prototype in four boxes: likes, wishes, questions and ideas. It gives people a structure for feedback, so that criticism and suggestions are recorded and not argued about.

When to use it

After a test session, to capture reactions in a form the team can act on.

When to skip it

When you need numbers or evidence at scale. Use a survey or a measured pilot.

How to run it

  1. 5 minEveryone writes notes alone, one per note, from what they saw and heard.
  2. 15 minPlace each in one of the four boxes.
  3. 10 minCluster, and mark anything said by more than one person.

About 30 minutes of method time. Add ten to fifteen minutes to open and close the session.

What to watch for

Defending the prototype. Fixing it during the session. Collecting only likes.

The AI lens

The Questions box is where distrust shows. Also note any moment when someone accepted the AI output without checking it.

What you leave with

Structured reactions, with repeated points marked.

An example

After a test session with six agents, the team clusters the notes. The questions box reveals that three people did not understand when the assistant was confident, which was not visible in the likes.

How it compares

A Feedback Grid captures reactions to a prototype. A Trust and Oversight Check examines where a person must step in.
