What it is

A role-play script acts out the new process with people playing the roles. Short scenes of four to six lines, including one where the AI solution is wrong, let people feel how a handoff or a decision will work in practice.

When to use it

When the group needs to feel how a new process works, especially the handoffs and the conversations around them.

When to skip it

When participants would find acting uncomfortable and it would limit honesty. Use a Storyboard instead.

How to run it

  1. 10 minPick a scenario. Assign roles: person, the AI solution (played by a person), customer, observer.
  2. 5 minWrite a short script, four to six lines a scene.
  3. 20 minAct the scenes, including one where the AI solution is wrong.
  4. 10 minReflect: what did each role feel, and where did trust break?

About 45 minutes of method time. Add ten to fifteen minutes to open and close the session.

What to watch for

Over-acting. A script where everything goes well. Not stopping to ask what the moment felt like.

The AI lens

Include a scene where the AI solution is wrong and the person has to decide what to do. Watch for how long they take to notice.

What you leave with

The new process acted out, with the moments where trust broke noted.

An example

Three colleagues act out a scene where an AI draft contains an error. The person playing the approver takes a long time to notice, which tells the team the checking step needs redesigning.

How it compares

A Role-Play Script tests the human side of the process. A Hand-Simulated AI Session tests the AI's behaviour.
